This week's StoxEurope deep-dive takes Royal KPN N.V. (KPN, Euronext Amsterdam) — the Dutch telecoms incumbent, selling fixed and mobile connections, TV and IT services in the Netherlands — through the StoxEurope Valuation Standard.
KPN’s fibre build is nearing its end: the company guides capex down from about €1,25 bn in 2026 to under €1,0 bn in 2027, while it returns all its free cash flow to shareholders. Most of the value lies in the long run. Four listed telecoms operators were examined as peers; their readings are shown and explained, and none is averaged in.
The StoxEurope estimate

The StoxEurope estimate is €4,57 per share, as at 5 October 2026. It comes from the primary model — the discounted cash flow of the whole business, chosen for this company before any value was computed.
Across the three modelled scenarios the primary model gives €3,44 to €5,41. Those are three modelled scenarios, not a statistical confidence interval: competition bites, the plan holds, or fibre pays off.
The share price on 5 October 2026 was €3,97.
What €3,97 would take

Under these one-input tests, our base model reaches €3,97 only with :
an operating margin of 21,79 %, below any year printed in the last 3 years
sales growth of −0,03 % a year, below the record (lowest: 2,4 %)
a discount rate of 5,54 % (beta 0,78), against our 5,04 %.
Each test changes one named input; other independent inputs, including long-run growth, stay at base. About three quarters of the value comes from after year five. The market may be pricing a combination of changes; we have not tested such combinations. This is not a statement of what investors believe.
The uncertainty that matters most
The discount rate — the beta is a judgement: at KPN’s own measured beta of 0,23 the estimate would be €6,38.
